Overview:
The purpose and mission of the Center is ‘to be the trusted resource for improving the financial well-being of all individuals‘ and ‘to empower all individuals to achieve financial wellness through all stages of life’. The Center achieves this by helping all individuals; especially youth navigate in a world ruled by money and credit.
The Center for Smart Financial Choices (The Center) has been providing programs with the Winston-Salem Forsyth School District since 2012 as a resource to teachers in delivering personal finance education. The Center has delivered over 70 workshops to approximately 2,200 students.
The Center‘s youth programs are coordinated under ‘The S. A. P. P. INSTITUTE’ (Students Achieving Proficiency & Prosperity) with the goal of increasing youth financial competencies. Filling the role of Youth Program Educator will enable The Center to expand its programs to additional schools and into surrounding counties.
Job Description:
The Youth Program Educator will schedule financial education programs for public and private schools, summer youth camps, colleges, non-profits and other youth service providers. This role involves maintaining excellent communication and relationships with youth service providers and volunteers; scheduling workshops and teaching students in grades 3-12 and young adults. The Youth Program Educator will work with The Center Director.
Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, teaching, counseling or related field. Bi-lingual preferred.
Experience: Two years relevant work experience with youth in an informal education or non-profit setting.
Qualifications include, but are not limited to:
Demonstrated ability to speak and write clearly, succinctly and persuasively.
Proficiency in planning, development, and management of financial education initiatives, including a curriculum of courses and resources to increase personal finance knowledge.
Solid customer service and relationship building skills.
Exhibited knowledge of youth and adult learning methods including classroom teaching and curriculum development skills.
Effective presentation skills with experience presenting to young people.
Ability to measure program impact and seek opportunities to consistently strive for excellence in developing a competitive educational program.
Experience working in a start-up, fast paced, high-growth, entrepreneurial environment.
Talent for managing multiple priorities from a variety of sources, organizing and prioritizing effectively to impact areas of greatest need.
Demonstrated proficiency using technology including Microsoft Office applications.
Valid NC Driver’s license.
